Which synagogue communities in the North Dallas/Richardson/Plano/Frisco areas would be either Modern Orthodox or Orthodox but also very politically conservative (i.e., not swayed by popular culture, socialism, BLM/CRT, and would also respect medical freedom for its members)?

Are there any synagogue communities in less populated areas outside of the DFW metro area?

We are thinking also of finding a country homestead and just driving into the community to stay over on shabbat and holy days, so any suggestions for those kinds of rural communities would also be appreciated.

A little of my story: I spent my early childhood in small town Texas but haven't been back for decades, so I don't know how it has changed or what is available. We also spent some time in Israel and would welcome finding Israelis who have moved to Texas. I do have fond memories of Texas and want to raise my family in a red state now.

Thank you. We work from home and also homeschool so jobs and schools are not critical factors (but would consider a Jewish private school if we could find one that meets our needs).

I imagine pretty much any Orthodox (and most Modern Orthodox) will be politically conservative? I think most are in North Dallas/Richardson.

I know one would reasonably assume that, but it seems to not always be true. I'm living in a blue state in a very blue urban area and virtually everyone in the tiny Jewish Orthodox community votes Dem.

West Plano. Chabad at Legacy or Ansher Torah (slightly more liberal).

No. They’re mostly educated and tend to lean conservative financial and socially liberal for the goyim. What a typical Texas conservative was before the Cheeto dust.

I think it's harder to categorize (stereotype?) Orthodox Jews than it used to be. If you'd asked me 10+ years ago, I would have said most OJ are politically and socially conservative. But now there appears to be more diversity in the ranks. More OJ are turning socially liberal, I think they're finding the hard-core right wing view harder to swallow. I wouldn't call them progressive, just not as uncompromising as the American far right. Same sex marriage, gay rights, the whole issue of "populism"... Orthodox Jews have become less entrenched than years ago.

One of the issues that really complicates everything is Israel. Most OJ (as do most Jews) support Israel. The Rep party has become a staunch supporter of Israel, while the Dem party has shifted away from steadfast support. This has caused a ripple om the force, where supporters of Israel are having trouble staying in the Dem party. Having said that, Jews supported Biden 76% to 22% for TFG.

tl;dr Just find an Orthodox community to live in. It'll work out.

Thanks. I think your assessment is pretty much spot on. I'm genuinely socially conservative so am trying to find my niche, but, it might not exist.

If by "socially conservative" you mean you are against same-sex marriage, against gay rights, against feminism, support for abstinence-only sex education... well, it exists, but it's a continually shrinking pool.

Oh, I'm more "live and let live" when it comes to homosexuality, but I draw the line at leftists trying to indoctrinate my children via domination of the culture and the "conversation." CRT, LGBTQ, BLM - those are terribly dangerous ideologies that I won't allow to be forced on our family. I'm in Portlandia at the moment and need to get my children out of the sewer here, and out of masks and forced vaccination.

As had been told to you. Your version of “left” and Dallas version of left are not the same.

So, stop being divisive on stupid things, come out for a week and take a look.
