My townhome in McKinney (built in 2015) has a gas stove, furnace, and water heater. Because we had become accustomed to gas appliances in Illinois and California we also had the builder add a gas line to the dryer, which was an extra $125.00.

We also lived in a new apartment in Frisco for our first 6 months in TX and it was all electric, including an induction cooktop. It got hot quickly like gas, but the problem is if you spilled anything while cooking, you had to fight the smoke alarm for the next hour.

Putting in new gas lines is expensive in low density regions. Not everyone who is on a piped street will use gas.
At one time gas appliances were relatively less expensive than electric appliances because the gas industry subsidize the appliances so that you will use gas.

Electricity is everywhere. Most homes are 200amp, 120/240 service. That's enough to run everything you will need, especially since lighting and TV are now low watts. You can live with gas, but you cannot live without electricity.

Semi rural Oregon we had gas and we used it.
In urban Seattle area we only have a gas fireplace that is decorative. We haven't got it work yet. Electricity is ~8cents/kwh. I have no idea of the gas fee since we live in a condo and only the building is gas metered.

Hmmm, not a professional, but I can cook just fine on either.

But, yeah, during the epic (or idiotic, lol) power grid failure last year , gas stove was a good thing to have.
