We lived in a small town in North Dakota. The city paid farmers to clear snow using the front-end loaders on their tractors or backhoes. This cost money, but it kept the city from having to purchase and keep up a fleet of special equipment for snow removal.
Unfortunately, the liability factor and scope for a city the size of Dallas renders a few farmers with plows moot.

Just so lung as you understand why there are so few basements. I mean, they're nice in some places, I agree, but not so nice in others, and basically impossible (or at least totally unrealistic) in others.

Looks like we made it through this winter storm. We could still get another one or two before Spring. I hope that the Texas power grid is being maintenanced and we never see anything like we did last year again in my lifetime.
