What is the over/under on the power grid failing again sometime between say now and Sunday? I am afraid there is a good chance it will fail. Good luck to everyone staying safe and warm!

Yeah, we'll see what happens when it's 12 degrees tomorrow and everyone has their heat cranked up and if anyone actually winterized the grid...lol

First of all, it appears it will get well below 30. And second, in this particular case, it's about the power lines (that are inexplicably above ground).

Download ErcotMobileAPP to check the current grid status. Currently it shows we are in good shape, with Committed capacity of 75,516 MW and Current Demand of 48,574 MW.

The cost to bury all power lines in this state would be more than the entire state budget for the next ten years. The. Entire. Budget. Ten. Years.

Except it’s not going to be 12 degrees in any of the heavily populated areas.

Doubtful.

But yes, good infrastructure is not cheap.

Fixing damage storm after storm, year after year - also not cheap.
