Texas has independent school districts (ISD's) and there are about 100 in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. They are governed by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). While some of the school districts carry the name of a city that doesn't mean the district has the same boundaries as that city The state's high stakes testing is called the TAKS. All students must pass the high school level TAKS to graduate.

High schools are classified by size of enrollment. The biggest is 5A, then 4A is next smallest, 3A, even smaller and then 2A is next and 1A is the smallest.

We don't really have a teacher shortage here, except for the high needs areas of math, science, ESL and special ed.

The bigger school districts are:
Dallas
Ft. Worth
Arlington
Irving
Garland
Plano
Richardson
Mesquite

Dallas and it's suburbs has excellent schools and I'm sure Ft Worth does too - did you ask on the Ft Worth board as well?

Texas has state mandated testing, called TAKS testing and is very similar to the FCATs that FL teaches, so prepared to deal with that.

there is no way I believe Diamond Hill is ranked higher than Paschal--Paschal had like 11 or 12 National Merit Semi-finalists and Diamond Hill had 0---how does that signify quality education

Maybe they should have a ranking that uses how many students are National Merit SemiFinalists divided by number of students?
