The level of absolute stupidity here broaches the unimaginable.

Per the story the teacher thought hand sanitizer would not ignite when set on with a match. Apparently multiple kids had earlier covered their hands in sanitizer, the teacher would then expose the kid's hands to a lit match and the fire/match went out each time.

The teacher attempted this little stunt one last time - only this time the 12yo boy's hands were set ablaze and the kid suffered 3rd degree burns.

The teacher has resigned, cops are involved, lawyers are surely parachuting in to get involved, I'm sure GBISD is praying it has a usable $25MM umbrella policy in place or some sort of state coverage.

The kid ended up in Parkland's burn service confirming the kid's injuries are severe.

I hope the community doesn't rally around the teacher like what happened with the Indiana teacher discussed here: https://wcti12.com/news/nation-world...outrage-ensues

It's a weird phenomenon when someone does something wrong that becomes a public issue and people feel the need to stand up for the person in the wrong rather than the clear victim.

Some of the teachers are not the sharpest tool in the shed. Its almost monthly you hear of a teacher being with a minor and they continue to do it.

Crikey, I hadn't seen that video. On its face that appears like an unnecessary assault.

_______________

In the last of the Hadean times when I was at Rice a grad student demonstrated something called the Leidenfrost Effect.....he degreased his hand, dunked his hand in a prepared water solution, and then dunked the same hand into a container of molten lead for fractions of a second. FWIIW I think he may have shaved away hairs from his hand and lower arm too.

Good for him the Leidenfrost Effect worked as hoped and he was fine. However, right there were a guy with a fire extinguisher, another guy with wet towels and very large tub of water the guy could have jumped into if needed.

To me the differences are my guy knew the risks and exposed only himself to the risks. The teacher above clearly didn't know the risks and put a child in danger and in the end hurt him badly.

The teacher could be a genius, holding two Master degrees in Sociology and Gender Study, and a PHD in Anthropology.
