I have the option to purchase a townhome in either McKinney or Lewisville. The one in Lewisville is 15k more than the one in McKinney. The Lewisville townhome is located at 35 and SRT while the McKinney one is on 121 and 75 area.

I looked at reviews of both cities and the school districts in McKinney makes the most sense even though it is north of McKinney. The one in Lewisville is on the border of Coppell however the high school it is districted for, Lewisville high school does not have the best reviews whereas the one for McKinney is North McKinney high school.

I don’t plan on living in either of the properties for a long time maybe 2 to 5 years or less and I am single and have no kids. I am in my early 30s and work remotely.

I think you'll see better price appreciation on the McKinney home, all things being equal.

Lewisville can be a dump and 35/121 has a lot of bars

If you only intend to stay 2-5 years, then it makes more sense to rent.

It depends a lot on the neighborhood and the condition of the home, but I think appreciation in general will be better in Lewisville if only because of the proximity to high paying jobs and roller coasters. It looks like Lewisville's leadership in elected office is better too. Our mayor is an embarrassment.

On the other hand, as long as you are north of Eldorado and west of 75, McKinney, for now, has more attractive neighborhoods and houses without all those ghastly utility poles. I can't speak to Lewisville's crime rate. but I would imagine it's quite a bit higher.

Allen is not an option. Nothing in my price range or anything that is available at the moment.
