Don't know if you guys know about this project but if it comes to pass it'll be transformative to the skyline. I know big projects have been announced before only to be cancelled or scaled back. What are your thoughts on this project?

Well, this is the only major project I can think of that actually has a big tenant attached to it. It has a better chance of coming to fruition IMO. They’re now in the process of asking for incentives from the city. The project was approved last year. It will most definitely change the skyline though. It’s going to add some nice height around all the smaller highrises in Uptown and Victory Park.

That's great! Can't wait to see how the skyline will look once completed. It'll also add more density as well.

Maybe they will finally start properly paving the pedestrian roads and opening lunch spots for the workers. Heck, maybe plant some trees so people can walk in 105F during summer for couple hundred feet without dying.

That would be a great idea.

I believe that it won't happen because of the terrible economy we have. With a recession just around the corner investors will back out and it has happened several times in the past. Seems like these companies choose the wrong time to build such large projects, usually these companies have a big mouth and can't put their money where their mouth is. I would be really shocked if they actually go through with this project.

Why? GS has publicly committed to moving a LOT of its heavy hitters to W Palm Beach and moving a bunch of people to Dallas, although the cohort expected to move here will be comparatively less important to the enterprise and lower paid. They're also moving a lot of much lower paid employees to Salt lake City so they don't feel so poor and don't have to pay higher wages (my words, not theirs, obviously). GS won't leave New York or SF by any stretch but the center of gravity that their current downtown NYC office represents is expected to lighten substantially.

I second this. I'd be really surprised if GS *actually* needs this much space currently or especially in the future. We'll see though - I've been surprised before!

Those 5 buildings will finally bridge the gap between Downtown and Uptown looking east from Trinity Groves/North Oak Cliff.
We'll finally have a seamless skyline. Even though it already looks seamless from the peak of the Sylvan bridge.

Dallas has one of my favorite skylines and it's only going to get better with all of the projects happening now and in the future.
