What are some good gyms in the DFW area? Does anyone like 24 Hr Fitness? The gym I go to right now offers (free w/membership) a trainer to meet with you every 6 weeks to weigh, measure, take your % body fat, and, if needed, provide suggestions or show you new exercises. I really like that and would like to find another gym that does it. It also would be nice to have a pool to do laps in.

Ditto to LifeTime Fitness. Both the Plano and Allen facilities that I go to are fantastic.

I just joined the Southlake 24 Hr Fitness and love it. I used to work out at the Solana Club but at $100/mo it was just a little too pricey. The membership I just got is $29 MTM, so I'm not locked into a long-term contract, one of the pet peeves I've had about many gyms.

The facility is brand new and top-notch. The only complaint I've got so far is too much chlorine in the pool/whirlpool and I've got to bring my own towels. Otherwise all is good.

I was a member of LA Fitness for a while. I thought it was a pretty good value, but I dropped my membership after they dropped their pre-6am non-spin classes (I'm willing to do pretty much any class but Spin).
My husband is a member of 24 hour, and he likes it, but I think he mostly just does the treadmill.
I'm still looking for a gym with classes that I want to take at the times I want to take them in a location that's convenient.
I think most gyms offer personal trainer services like you describe, but there's usually an extra fee for it. I know LA and Bally's usually have pools too.

I've used 24Hour in cities across the country and it has been a good deal.

Default Best Gym ever!!

Metroflex Gym in Plano, Tx. --- just opened in January. Great, knowledgable owner. This is a hardcore gym - loud music to get you pumped - mostly serious atheletes and body builders, but friendly people. Everyone feels welcome, no matter what level.

One requirement - you have to be serious about working out!

Snap Fitness - Open 24 hrs, no contracts, cheap rates. I recommend them if you just want a good place to excercise and not all the fluff. They also have trainers that will help you with your workout.

This is not the place to go if you want all the extras like basketball courts, racketball, locker rooms, showers, pool, etc.
