Here in WA, it is ok to have 5 people in a 2 bedroom. I've read that the limit is usually 4 in TX. Is that a hard and fast rule? Would I be able to live in a 2 bedroom with 4 kids?

depends on the ages of the children but in general I would say no--the city sets the rules not individual apt complexes

Depending on the complex 4 is the rule but that rule is it's broken all the time. I would think that the nicer the complex the more likely they are going to follow the rules set forth by the city.

This is what I was thinking. I've broken the rules at the place where I am now, with all 6 of my kids and myself in a large 2 bedroom townhouse and nobody in the office cared.

What about houses? Are private owners allowed to have more if they want to?

I really only want to do this for 6 months to a year since I most likely will not have a job lined up when I move, to be on the safe side.

I've seen alot of 3 bedrooms I could probably afford right away, but not getting good vibes about them.

Again depending on the location. It is not uncommon for 2 or 3 families to live in the same house. The nicer the neighborhood the more likely you are going to be turned in for a violation. Six people living in a 3 bedroom would not be a violation. Infact it would not be a violation in a 2 bedroom house.

I use to live in government housing, there was a rule that if a child was over 12 (if I'm remembering the age number right) they should be in their own room, if they were younger, they could share.

I want to be in a decent location without paying more than about $850 for an apartment, to start out. I also need to be close to the jobs. I've considered Ft. Worth, but I'm worried there would not be enough jobs there (45-60 min commute). I'm talking accounting or jobs (preferably) in the wireless industry (not IT related).

What I mean by decent is that I don't want to have to worry about my kids walking home from school when I'm at work.

I'm thinking this all won't be possible if I rent a 3 bedroom?
