Renting a house or townhome
I thought I'd chime in with a warning about renting from a private owner, since you mentioned renting a town home or house (assuming that's what you meant). There have been some news articles lately about renters who have been evicted from their rentals because the landlords have gone into foreclosure without warning them. It would be an awful surprise so I though I'd pass the information along.

Take a look at
Welcome to Home of Prairie Springs! . Technically apartments, but some of the buildings have a townhouse style with a garage. I noticed they have one 3 bedroom floorplan with about 1,500 sf. Located in the north part of Richardson. I was by there today measuring a fence to bid some repair work. It's a nice community.
