Ive lived here for 2 years, I have never joined a church, and nobody cares.

Not only do I not belong to a church, I have never been asked to go to church, none of my friends belong to a church, and I have never been invited to go to a church.

I agree with a75206 points about appearance and status in Dallas (though I do think they are a bit exaggerated), but as many churches as there are here, I do disagree with his points about religion here. That has simply not been our experiance (nor any of my friends either, most of which are transplants).

Ill leave it at this: There are a lot of churches in Dallas (though Catholicism is the largest religion by number of adherents) so that can be overwhelming, but on a personal level people arent in your face about it. I would compare it more to a city like Atlanta (but with a lot more Catholics).

I have no reason to lie or make things up. I am saying things from my experience of living in Dallas for a few years and living in Dallas metroplex overall for about 8 years. I still visit often enough.

The user "TurtleCreek80" is someone I agree with on this issue, especially his (her?) writings on this thread:

In my experience, way too many girls in Dallas fall into the categories mentioned in this post:

//www.city-data.com/forum/17552078-post29.html

Considering that Dallas is one of those cities where census shows that there are more single men than women (read Richard Florida's "Who's Your City" to get all sorts of data and ideas on how to pick a city you might like in your stage of life and your preferences/needs), I was able to date a little but it just wasn't my kind of scene. Basically, you play the hookup game at the bar and might get lucky. Or you want an intellectually stimulating partner-in-crime and most of those girls in Dallas are already taken by their mid-20s or they only want to date fellow white, church-going (or at least conservative) local dude.

Good thing with booming metros like Dallas is that the scene tends to change rapidly, and it's probably gotten a bit more diverse since I left a few months ago...

that's cool. just wanted to be clear.

all this is pretty subjective, and even then, our experiences change depending on so many variables, not all of which are in our own control. what is in our control is to be happy, and if not, do something about it.
