Does Dallas have any cable stations (owned by news stations) that re-broadcasts throughout the day (i.e. the 6 p.m. news loops until 10 p.m.)? OKC had one of these & I lived by it.

I admit I go to bed before 10 and I feel so disconnected from not watching the local news!

Thanks!

fox 4 has a 9:00 news. I think channel 52 rebroadcasts the channel 8 news at 6:30 or 7:00- don't quote me on that one. but you could check channel 52 and see what you find.

KFWD (Channel 52) is an independent station that re-broadcasts WFAA's (Channel 8) 6 P.M. Newscast from 7:00-7:30 P.M.

KTXA (Channel 21), a sister station of KTVT Channel 11, also does a nightly newscast from 7:00-9:00 P.M. On regular occasions when sporting events are broadcast, however, the news isn't shown.

Texas Cable News (Time Warner Cable Channel 38) is regional network that re-broadcasts news stories from across the state. The station is owned by the Belo Corporation and newscasts come from the four affiliates it owns in Texas, including WFAA in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.

Hope this is helpful.

BTW 52 is on channel 14 at my house (Time-Warner).

Not much on Time-Warner but they do carry ALN (channel 103) which shows a lot of 60s TV shows, tonight is Irwin Allen night (Lost in Space, Time Tunnel, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Land of the Giants).

On the weekends they have Burke's Law -- missed that as a kid -- a lot of stars and familiar character actors were on each different crime mystery episode. You really don't care 'who done it' it's just fun watching!

Default The News Is On Somewhere

In addition to the additional broadcast stations, I think what the OP is really referring to is a separate news channel that covers local news. What ready2fly had in Oklahoma City was NewsNow 53, which covered news from KWTV around the clock on Cox cable channel 53. The closest you'll come in Dallas is TXCN (Texas Cable News), which does statewide weather reports and excerpts from the newscasts of four Belo-owned stations (WFAA, Dallas; KHOU, Houston; KENS, San Antonio; and KVUE in Austin). Now, in Austin, Time Warner runs News 8 Austin, which is local 24-hour cable news source, and quite a good one. They used to run News 24 Houston and News 9 San Antonio, but the Belo partnership didn't quite work and they lost money. I would, however, love to see Time Warner start something in Dallas-Fort Worth akin to what is already showing in Austin. News 24 Metroplex, anyone???

Thanks to all for the posts! Wow, case 44 - you must be in OKC a lot, or a former resident! You were exactly right about Channel 53!

Lakewooder, thanks for your tip! My DH will be so excited about the ALN channel! He loves old sci-fi!
