I would appreciate some tips on desirable places to live mid-way between Plano and Ft. Worth. If there are suggestions for exemplary neighborhoods that are not exactly mid-way, I would also be interested in those suggestions.

A quick look at "mid-way" between Plano and Ft. Worth looks to somewhere around Terminal C at DFW. Starting at 12 O'clock and going clockwise, the surrounding towns are Coppell, Farmers Branch, Irving, Euless, Colleyville, Southlake and Grapevine. Strictly looking at GoogleMaps shows that Southlake and Irving are directly in line with a runway. Euless, Grapevine and perhaps Coppell are too close for most traffic to turn and overfly. Colleyville and Farmers Branch are along a line almost perpendicular to runways, which should prevent most flights from passing over head. (Except of course for planes in a holding pattern, but then those don't appear as loud as when a plane is taking off or landing.)
