I just got my bachelor's degree, and will likely work for the next calendar year in to save up enough money to move out on my own and relocate. Born and raised in the Bay Area, it appears that it's way too expensive in my neck of the woods to find affordable living this soon after graduation. Besides, with the traffic, recent epidemic of wildfires, and the possibility of the next big earthquake, I think it's just time for a change of scenery.

I've heard that the Dallas/Ft. Worth area has affordable housing...is this true? Politically I'm center-left; are there suburbs of Dallas that are affordable, relatively safe, with a good mixture of people? If anyone could tell me about the restaurants and the nightlife for people in the 18-25 age group, it would be appreciated.

Why suburbs? Why not just live in Dallas?

The cost of living is certainly cheaper than the bay area. At your age and wanting a active nightlight I would stay out of the majority of the burbs and live close to downtown. Las Colinas and Addision are the only burbs I would live in if I were single and required a active social life.

Especially if you are center-left.

Try Downtown, Uptown, Knox-Henderson, Lower Greenville to start. I can name more!

BTW what is affordable (renting or buying)?

Well, Oak Lawn is an original suburb of Dallas, left leaning and SanFran emulatory (okay, so I made that up). But I'd agree with all of the areas Lakewooder mentions.

Ya I agree with you and FarNorthDallas. I think you would like something closer in like the Addison area or Downtown, because there will be a lot more stuff there for what you are wanting, and especially for your age. Hope this helps!
