Springfield Missouri is very racist...do you think the majority of posters are stupid and drool in a tin cup? Come on!

" That means that back in the day (70s and early 80s) there was a sign at the City limits warning people of color to be out of that town when the sun goes down, or something bad will happen to them. "

Back in the day, 70s and early 80s? OK. Sundown towns were established ALL OVER the USA, including California (plus Canada) in the 19th century. Old laws that wouldn't/couldn't be enforced were left on books and most had been removed by around 1982, but the concept of a sundown town had been gone since the civil rights movement.

You're not the only one that experienced racism, I worked for Sanden back when they had over 1,000 employees, we had engineers from Africa, highly educated, lots of diversity in a large manufacturing plant like that, people from all over... but it was well known the KKK was alive and well in Wylie Texas, and most left at 5pm and did not "hang around". I see nothing wrong with warning people of this, I moved here from the Bay Area and I was very naive about the south and racism, it caught me off guard and I fought it every step of the way for the 11 years I lived and worked there.
Oh my gosh! How horrible for you to have to be forced to live and work in such a horrendous town! God forbid you find a job in another city. Or an apartment. I didn't realize Wylie was so far from the rest of civilization!

Pappy, you are just so into the KKK aren't you? You have posted what how many threads now with links to the KKK website? I've already responded to you on this subject on 3 other threads, you will have to sell your KKK info to others, I'm not interested

You know moving2tracy you're operating on old info. I don't know where you lived in Wylie but it's anything but lilly white. The school district shows numbers of 20% hispanic, 15% black and 7% asian, thats hardly a sundown community. I'm not saying everybody in Wylie is perfect but lets do get a grip here. When you moved there it was probably a lot worse than it is today.

FYI....I wanted to post this in the " Stay away from Wylie " thread but it is closed. There is no unusual racism in Wylie whatsover,it is actually pretty diverse. There is not an abundance of racist caucasian people living there. It is an affordable, welcoming ,middle class suburb....

Via the 2010 US Census....

Wylie Population 41,427

- 61.6 caucasian
- 12.4 african american
- 0.6 american indian
- 5.6 asian
- 0.1 pacific islander
- 3.3 two or more races
- 18.0 hispanic

Hmmm..........I lived in Wylie for 2 1/2 yrs and never saw any racism. My neighbors were black, white, and brown. We all got along great [ well we DID have 1 family that was a bit off, BUT they were purple] I guess IF you look hard enough ANYTHING could, COULD be considered racist! But I never looked that hard into it, and MOST around me did likewise.

Wylie has Target, Walmart, Aldi, Burger King, KFC, McDonald's, Kohl's, Ross, PetsMart, Home Depot, Chili's, plus many more shopping opportunities.

A movie theater and a Kroger are set to open soon.
