Hello, i'll be moving to Dallas in January. I am currently looking to move to Cedar Hill, Irving, or De Soto. If you had a younger sister who was moving to Texas where would you recommend she live?

Basically which areas are
-Diverse
-Safe
-Cost Effective
-and not too long of a commute to the city?

A Little background
Budget: under 650 for a 1 bedroom apartment
Professional field: Server administrator/DBA
Age: 24 but i'm very mature, i'd prefer to not be around college students.
Animals: one small dog :-)
-Prefer to live in a diverse community. I'm African American

If your recommendation is not listed please don't hesitate to give me your advice. Also, if you would, please tell me why you recommend that city. At least one pro and one con.

Initially i will be moving into an apt, but if i like the area i will be looking to invest in a house in a year. Thanks in advance!!!!

What part of town will she be living in. It's hard to give advice as to were to live when you don't know what part of town they will be working in. If she works in Plano living in Desoto would be crazy. More info please.

Cedar Hill & Desoto are both nice predominately black, but fairly diverse communities. Irving is nice & diverse only in the northern sections like Las Colinas. You'll often find most other parts of Irving to be majority Hispanic. The problem in Las Colinas is finding an apartment for less than $650 a month. They tend to start at around $750 for a small 1 br/1b apt.

Check out Garland, there are some nice apartments on Buckingham and Shiloh called The Courtyard, they have one bedrooms from $635/mo. Garland has a good mix of Asian, Black, Hispanic, and White people. Garlands location makes it easy to get anywhere, 3 major highways run through the city, and another runs through nearby Richardson.

Both Lewisville & Euless are options. You can usually get more apartment for your money in those two cities. Much safer than Irving too.

The village in Dallas, TX or the uptown area. If you are under 30 and don't live some part of your life in those areas you are doing yourself a disservice

You also might consider Tarrant county. Lots of good areas in HEB, which is Hurst, Euless, Bedford.
