Everyone gave great info regarding moving and picking a place close to where you work. I thought I would give it a shot and see if anyone knows about the HR market in DFW. I am working on a graduate certificate in hr development. I have a few years managerial experience but only 2 years of generalists hr experience. Any info would be great, including salary ranges.

I was looking and there are quite a few SHRM chapters in the area. Here is the website where you can maybe find one that would be in your area specifically where ever you pick.

http://www.shrm.org/chapters/displaychapters.asp (broken link)

I was involved in the one local to me (here in CA) and they were very very helpful and really give you a good idea of where you can take your career if you get involved in the chapter. I was involved in several different committees in our group and it helped out a bunch.

SHRM rocks. When I was thinking of going from straight IT into HRIS management years ago, I received alot of guidance from them....

There are lots of HR options out there as there are hundreds of companies that employ HR professionals. Also, with HR, Temp agencies often have leads as well because alot of HR companies add additional staff during times like open enrollement.

There are several contracting firms that work with HR/Payroll personnel as well. It's not a bad option if you can find a 3 - 6 month contract to hire position.
