I recently got a job in downtown Dallas. I'm traveling from W 183 and Precinct Line Rd. How bad would my commute be? Leaving at a usual business time early morning and returning in the evening.

It will take you about 40-45 minutes. Hope this helps!

Have you considered using TRE?

Yes, you do have the option of using the TRE. They have station in Hurst right by Bell Helicopter. It's right off Hurst Blvd. It goes to Downtown Fort Worth, Downtown Dallas, and DFW Airport. It takes about 40 minutes for it to get from the Hurst station to Union Station in Downtown Dallas.

Here is the website for the TRE:

Trinity Railway Express (TRE)

Hope this helps!

I commute to North Dallas from the same place (I take 183 to 35E-S and then catch 75N up to Walnut Hill) and it takes me about 40 minutes with minimal traffic. I'm not sure how close this is to downtown, but it will give you an idea at least. Keep in mind that I don't leave for work until around 9:30 so the traffic has subsided quite a bit.

My drive home (leaving at 6pm) takes anywhere from 40-60 minutes. However, on the drive home I usually take 635-W -> 35E -> 12 -> 183.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Although the distance is not that far, the traffic on 183 in rush hour is really bad, it turns into a parking lot. Get familiar with the back roads in case of accidents and yes the TRE could be a great alternative.

Funny Precinct Line on 183 travelling west in rush hour is where the traffic starts getting easier as soon as it splits with 820 and 121 south.
