Why are you considering police work?

Why are you considering DPD versus Arlington, Plano, Garland or smaller suburban departments?

What are you career goals within police work?

Dallas PD?

Overall, okay Joes (and Janes) . . . but understaffed, low-paid, but a relatively high retirement package -- I guess the top end thinks that will keep them well behaved, and stick around to end, but that combo also does not attract a lot of go-getters -- is that kind enough?

Basically our point of view on the South side anymore is we will shoot the bad guys and call the cops, later. We do not want the cops to show up too early and get hurt in the cross-fire.

Have had a couple of friends go through (as in through to somewhere else) the Dallas PD. One is now a federal agent. She volunteered for deep night on the Southeast side of Fair Park (deepest hood in Dallas), for the experience. She got it. Her performance and "production" was 10X the department average, and twice the next closest officer. She would do the job while other cops working on retiring read the newspaper and grilled hot dogs in the park. So I guess what you make it is up to you.
