$1584/year = $132/month. That's not all that high.

I know shaxs response was from 2 years ago, but a "downtown" HOA fee of $525 is probably more than an HOA. Most dues in a highrise also include exterior maintenance of the building (roof, foundation, landscaping, etc) and blanket building insurance. This is VERY different than a typical HOA in a single family home where you are still 100% responsible for maintaining your individual home.

Adding to this revived post...

We live in an established neighborhood in Allen and pay $475/year. For this, we get common ground maintenance, several playgrounds, a clubhouse, two swimming pools, a tennis court and one large fishing pond containing two lighted fountains. Nothing especially luxe, but still it's all very nice.

You live in Lantana, I would bet.

$132 isn't bad, considering you would pay close to that for professional lawn care.

And if you do live in Lantana, you get 5 different pools, monitored alarm, fitness facilities, and early-bird tee times as part of your dues, as well.

My HOA fee is $500 a year. I pay the first half in th January and the second in July. It includes use of the community pool and our houses are behind a gate. And we take care of our own lawns.

There are very few neighborhoods with SFH that have an HOA that high. Usually a gated community such as Shoal Ck in Plano and a few others in Plano and in Dallas Creekside Place, The Downs, etc.
