I'm not sure WHY you'd want to do that, though, unless you're priced out of Coppell ISD and GCISD. I don't know what you read, but IMO, Plano ISD and Coppell ISD are pretty comparable.

Ok! I'll just go ahead and take a closer look at those districts

I would look at Coppell ISD & just live there. It is consisently one of the top performing public districts (right up there with Highland Park, Southlake, & Plano) for SAT scores, AP results, & colllege admissions. It's also a small 1-high school district like HP is (and not a mega 50,000++ student district like Plano or Richardson).

If you work in Coppell than just stay there. Coppell has a central location and schools are comparable to Plano. Properties are not as expensive as people make it to be, you can easily find affordable housing.Personally, I find Coppell dull and lusterless but its not a bad town. You can stay away from warehouse area & go to other towns for dinning, shopping & entertainment. However, If you prefer Plano or Richardson than just stay near George Bush Tollway and you'll do fine.

The only reason I would live in Plano would be the proximity to Dallas area attractions. If it's just a matter of spending most of your time in one suburb and working in another, why bother? They are similar in property values, leisure activities, school quality.

If one can't afford Park cities than Plano has a lot more to offer than Coppell or any other inner ring suburb. Still, If you work in Coppell than it makes sense to stay there.

Off the top of my head, the shopping and dining scene in Plano is a lot bigger than in Coppell.

Whenever the "hot new thing" in Dallas itself becomes successful enough to expand (for example, Fireside Pies, Snappy Salads, Central Market), Plano usually lands location #2, 3, or 4. I don't think you could say that about Coppell. At best, you could argue that Southlake fills that role for Coppell.

Oh my, that commute would be rough. Traffic would be the worst from about 7:30 to 9:30 and 4:00 to 6:00....

You need a helicopter! And to make matters worse, you are going to south Fort Worth which is even further away from Allen. The commute from my home in Grapevine to Allen is an hour, and from Grapevine to downtown Fort Worth is 30 minutes. So, you are looking at a commute of 1.5 to 2 hours, which is really not possible.
