Hi,
Although I have been reading this for a while, this is my first post on this forum. Thanks to all contributers for educating the rest of us and I am hoping someone can help me out with my situation.

I am currently living in Plano for the last 4 months and am looking to buy a house in 3 to 4 months. We are originally from Chicago. My wife works in Richardson (Rt. 75 & Renner Rd.). I am a web developer, looking for jobs in the area. Not sure where my job is going to be located, at this time. We have kids in 1st Grade and 4th Grade. Best schools is the most important factor for us.

Could someone please suggest the best location for us to buy a house in the range of $200K - $300K, preferably with a lot size of more that .3 acre?. Would prefer access to a lake (boating and fishing). We are asians and would like to have some asians in the neighbourhood and the schools.

If boating is that important, then I would suggest Rockwall or Rowlett. You could get a decent house for that price range, not on the watter but at least you don't have to drive too far to the lake.

The schools are very good and the commute to Richardson is nominal.

Naima,
Thanks for the response!. I do appreciate it!. Could you please shed some light on the following concerns?. How is the crime rate?. Are they family friendly neighbourhoods? How do the elementary and middle schools compare to Plano? How is the traffic at peak hours towards Dallas?

Murphy. Short drive to Lake Lavon. Plano ISD and Wylie ISD schools (all great schools). Renner Rd dead ends at Murphy Rd. Lots of Asians in the area. Very low crime. There are a few newer neighborhoods with greater than 1/3 acre (my lot is right at 1/3) and there's an older section with acre lots south of 544.
