We move here over the summer and so far so good. We attend a small church that doesnt put on a traditional Christmas play and are looking for one that puts on a lovely show w/choir etc..anyone know of any. I was dissapoitnted that Prestonwood's cost $$ which seems to not be in the Christmas spirit. Thank you

First Baptist Carrollton has a Living Christmas tree or at least I think they are still doing it. I think Coppell 's main Baptist Church does as well. Most of the Methodist churches do Cantata's (sp?).

Churches to check...FUM Carrollton, FUM Dallas, Lover's Lane, Vista Ridge UMC Lewisville, Highland Park UMC, FUMC Lewisville, North Church on Beltline in Carrollton/Coppell, Fellowship Bible Church, Irving Bible Fellowship in Las Colinas. These are just a few that I have seen ads for over the years concerning plays, musicals, etc. for the holiday season.

When I first learned that the Prestonwood performance cost money, I was also taken aback. However, I wouldn't rip on Prestonwood without actually seeing the production. Comparing it to a standard Christmas play is like comparing a middle school production of "Princess and the Pea" to "Phantom of the Opera" in London.

Prestonwood probably spends well over $100K on the production. Every single performance is sold out, year after year, so they must be doing something right.

We could get into the "Six Flags over Jesus" philosophy and many other points about Prestonwood. But in terms of the Christmas production, they don't have enough capacity to accomodate those with money in hand. How could they possibly put on enough shows to cover those with only a mild interest, but not enough to spend money?

Just saying ditto to this. I have seen one of Prestonwood's productions, and it is quite elaborate. Some have likened it to the quality of a Broadway production.
