I need to get new hardwoods for my home. With all the housing crisis we are in...is there any place (other than home depot, lowes, etc) that I can get cheap materials from a project that is being foreclosed on?

Just curious. One's person's problem is another ones opportunity.

no one is going to take flooring out of a house that is being foreclosed unless it is a tear-down project or there will be big remodel and that just depends on the house/area/buyer and the quality of the flooring could be very bad depending on the house itself

look on craig's list for bulding materials/salvaged items--post a wanted item ad--it's free
but be aware that salvaged wood floors especially often cost more to reclaim than it does to buy/install new wood flooring--when people choose to use salvaged flooring it is usually because of design/aesthetic/historical need

and you won't know if you are getting a good price unless you have an idea of the retail price/quality of the item in the first place

have no idea if you even want wood floors but those were three ads that caught my attention doing a quick search--have no idea of reliability/quality of product/service company...
just a suggestion

there is this business
http://www.dhwsalvage.com/
they take all kinds of salvaged materials from homes/businesses
have hardwood flooring there
no prices on their web-site and they don't deliver or take returns
check the paper for the section on the weekend where people have give-away items that you usually have to pickup and sometimes disassemble to move
you can also check the paper for recycled/salvage items---sometimes there are bldgs being torn down that have materials to be recycled....

There's a place on Regal Row (I think) near Harry Hines called Discount Warehouse - they have all kinds of salvaged materials and sometimes hardwoods.
