Hello, all:

Considering a move to greater DFW, but have some moto questions.

I have already figured out there are no helmet laws (allows motorcycle Darwinism to more quickly run its course), but how is the moto commute in DFW? Are you allowed to lane split? Any flack from commuter lane travel? How about parking on the street: safe from thefts or tickets? Is it too hot to ride in the summer?

I realize I may be in denial here for not asking the important question, so here it is: how is the riding? DFW, from what I understand, is flatter than a panhead. Will a move to the area be a compromise from a motorcyle stand point? I know it isn't Cali, but I'm coming from Boston and don't want to give up what little topography I have.

Thanks......BlacknBrew

Well to quote an old coworker who moved to Dallas from Wisconsin.

"In Wisconsin, I couldn't ride my Harley 9 months out of the year because it was too cold.

In Texas, I can't ride my Harley 9 months out of the year because it's too hot."

There are days in the winter and certainly in the summer where I wouldn't ride far, but for the most part, it's not as dangerous as trying to ride in Atlanta. As far as theft goes, that's as much a hit or miss thing as anywhere else. There are areas that are more safe than others.

On summer weekends many riders takes trips out into the countryside. I know from working accidents that Hwy 77 south is a popular route towards Austin. Just please slow down for the turns on the farm roads.
