Looking for a nice hotel on and or near the beach, with nice pool, close to
shops and restaurants. Were going down in July...first trip there.
Not sure which area to stay...has anyone stayed at these hotels??

1. Hilton Resort on Galveston Island
2. Holiday Inn Sunspree
3. San Luis Resort

The San Luis is very nice with a great view of the sunrise if you get a beachside upper floor room:

The San Luis if all your wanting is a hotel room. Great pool area as well.

If your wanting something on the beach and more room like a condo w/ a kitchen then check out Seascape. They are ON the beach side of the road (some places are across the seawall from the beach) and a quiet beach area and a nice pool. The San Luis has two buildings, one that is the hotel and the other is condos. You can find some condos for rent in this building on places like VRBO and such.

Howdy,

Not sure what your budget is, but I recently spent a long weekend in Galveston and we ended up renting a beach house instead of hotel room.
A lot more space and privacy right on the beach - it was great.

Here is a link with some more info -

As far as hotels go, I think you'll have plenty to pick from on the seawall, near shops and restaurants. There is a site I like to use which has people's reviews of hotels, it might be helpful -

www.tripadvisor.com

Good Luck.

Hilton is very nice. Close to restaraunts, across from beach and awesome pool. Beautiful rooms, very clean, etc. (it's a Hilton, what more can you say?).

We had a ton of fun when we stayed here. Only thing I would have improved is the pool boy could never get that pool cleaned on time and poolboy kept kicking everyone out when they attempted to jump in at 900am sharp! Other than that...awesome place.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree about 2 years ago. It's just a basic Holiday Inn situated across the street from the beach.
