Does anyone here have knowledge of or have students enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Organization's Primary Years Program (PYP). Most of the time the IB is mentioned on this forum, it is in regards to high schools. One of the local elementary schools in Lancaster recently received its authorization and I just wanted to know how the program works at that level. Thanks.

Check out IB Primary Years Programme at a glance

I too am learning about this because we plan to roll-out the programme from high school to middle school to two or three of our elementary feeder schools over the next 2-4-6 years in the East Dallas/Lakewood area. We have formed a non-profit foundation to assist with this.

I have 3 children in IBO schools. 2 in Primary and 1 in the Middle Years Programme. Go to www.IBO.org for more information.

Your question is broad. What specifically would you like to know. I'm new to this program but I will help with any information I can provide.

I can say that I really respect the way the children are taught and I think my children are thriving in the atmospheres that they are currently in.

Lakewooder, does this mean they will do this program at Lakewood Elementary School? It looks very interesting, and would certainly be a new and interesting approach.

The current plan is to expand to J.L. Long in two years and then to 'two or three' elementary feeders (as per the written goals of the foundation). Since Lakewood Elementary parents are the major force behind the fundraising, I would expect Lakewood to be chosen.

If I had to guess on the others it would be Stonewall and Lipscomb.
