Hi-
My husband will be starting a new job at UT-Dallas in late summer. Can anyone recommend nice areas/neighborhoods in Richardson or in the surrounding areas? It would be great to keep his commute time under 15 minutes. We are looking to spend around $300-$400k for a house.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I love the Canyon Creek area. They are older homes but have a lot a character and for the most part have been taken well care of.

Ditto Canyon Creek. Other areas to look at in Richardson are SpringPark, Prarie Creek and Breckinridge Park area around Renner (newer homes in the Breckinridge area) all would have homes in your price range and convienent for UTD and other amenities of the area.

Default Re:

+1 on Canyon Creek.

Are school districts a consideration?

Schools districts are a consideration mostly because of resale value. We'll probably move in 5-7 years.
Thanks everyone for your recommendations so far!

If your looking to resale in 5 years or so you can't go wrong w/ the Canyon Creek area and that around Prarie Creek. AWESOME lots, great location, great houses. Sure they are not brand new but I LOOOOOOOVE going into them. Something always different in each one. I love going in the ones people have fixed up and "updated" to see if they have changed much and most have done a good job of keeping the character in tact and only "freshening" it up. The architecture of them is outstanding for the most part. Not your average everyday tract homes at all.

This area sales VERY WELL!!! Homes don't come on the market often in the Canyon Creek area and when they do they are gone. A lot of times you might find it is someone that already lives in the area that is just needing a bigger house and will move a street or two over if the house shows up for sale.

You might also look at Highlands North neighborhood which is west of the intersection of Coit and Campbell.

Absolutely Canyon Creek! It's *right there* next to UTD and the homes/neighborhood are beautiful. You see a lot of homeowner pride, plus CC has a lot of unique charm that newer subdivisions don't seem to have.

Let's put it this way, if I could choose any neighborhood to live in in this area, it'd be Canyon Creek.
