Any opinions on this section of Oak Lawn? Is there a lot of construction going on, or is it relatively quiet? Relatively crime-free?

(I'm interested in renting a unit in a duplex... and was wondering about the neighborhood.)

Thanks!

It's a beautiful old neighborhood of mostly single family homes. They range from bungalows to mansions. It's got tons of character. There are a few condos mixed in on the perimeter of the area. This 'hood is in the middle of Oak Lawn and it is not immune to crime. Personally, I would be more concerned with noise than crime. Perry Heights is directly under the flight path for Love Field airport and consequently it can be quite noisy for much of the day. You might try looking for a duplex or triplex a bit north (closer to Highland Park). Streets like Hawthorne, Prescott and Herschel have lots of high quality multi-family dwellings without the airplane noise.

If the noise from the jets landing or taking off won't bother you then you'll be happy in Perry Heights. I lived near the area for ten years and was not aware of any crime.
