hi-
We are moving from the Pacific Northwest down to Dallas in two months and are looking for a good, national moving company. Has anyone recently moved to Dallas and can recommend a company? We were considering using the POD system, but will need to have movers at both ends to help pack and move our items. Thanks for any help!

We used Atlas van lines for our move. They packed everything and moved one of our cars. We really had minimal damage to our stuff but I was mightily ticked about our car. The passenger seat head rest was broken when it arrived but we were told that they would only pay for damage to the exterior and not the interior ???? So, take pictures as the thing is being loaded on the truck and ask about coverage for interior damage.

Hi, let me know if I can help. I'm a regional vice president for one of the major van lines and can point you in the right direction if not directly help. Jeff

Default Pods

We're moving up this week from Houston and we found PODS to be very helpful -- the one problem we've had is trying to judge how many PODS to use. I thought it would fit -- my wife disagreed -- now I'm driving a U-haul with the left overs as punishment!

I will say that we had movers load it and we're having movers unload it so that is going to work great. My number one concern is that we're going to make a poor first impression on our new neighbors because they aren't great to look at and we can't schedule the movers to show up until the next day because PODS won't guarantee a delivery time.

Just as an update now that we've finished our move -- the POD was not as good as it was cracked up to be. A couple of our items were damaged by the POD because it was not kept as level as they claimed it would be.

I can, however, reccommend Progressive Movers -- we got Modesto and Luis and they were AWESOME! They unloaded a POD and a partially filled 26 ft U-Haul in 2 hours and charged $74 per hour. My wife set it up but said that they are insured.
