My fiance and I are relocating to the Dallas area in 3 months from the Atlanta area. She is Chef and is at the height of her career. She has worked in amzing places in Miami as the Ritz, Mandarin Oriental etc. She is not versed on the Dallas scene so I am doing the research for her.
Are there high end restaurants, hotels and resorts in the area and are they busy and/or popular? We are city people and want to live near the heart of it all especially for her since she is a chef. She is at the height of her career and does not want to step bacl but in fact, move forward.. Thanks guys..

We only have BBQ joints and Tex-Mex dives and some not-so-Holiday Inns.

How about surrounding cities that are not TOO far for commuting?

Hey I was kidding! You seriously don't think DALLAS has a lot of high-end restaurants and hotels?

Sorry, for being facetious -- most of the high-end, upscale places are in and just north of Downtown in Uptown/Turtle Creek/Oak Lawn. Dallas supposedly has more restaurants per capita than NYC.

We also have a Ritz. WOW! Shock I know.

Amazes me that people really do think that Dallas has NOTHING. I mean, Atlanta........ Miami......... Dallas is just as ritzy and high class as those places and sometimes moreso. PLENTY of high end restaurants. Check out The Mansion and any restaurant w/ Dean Ferring, Stephen Pyles and TONS of others may have strings to. Dallas is like high end restaurant mecca for great chefs.

Dallas definitely has an expansive and high quality culinary scene. The names on the attached list will help you begin to scratch the surface. Among Dallas' star local chefs are Dean Fearing, Stephan Pyles and Kent Rathbun. Plenty of not so local names have restaurants here too including Wolfgang Puck, Charlie Palmer and others that I can't think of at the moment. Anyway, there's no shortage of very high-end dining here. As Lakewooder said, the majority of these places will be from Downtown & Uptown to points north including Oak Lawn, Turtle Creek, Knox-Henderson & the Park Cities.
