The biggest dislikes my wife and I have are the oppressive heat and humidity in the summer, and the fact we're so far from our families.

I don't complain about the condition of the roads, just the cost to drive on them. One toll road is too many but within a decade there will be 6 of them, with managed toll lanes alongside free lanes on existing roadways to boot.

Golly, if you don't like Dallas, texas, why not move to Plano or Frisco?

My take on the original question... the difference between municipal Dallas versus Arlington, Fort Worth, Plano, Irving, etc. "Dallas, Texas" is a specific municipality, whereas Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington is a metro.

Likes: Logical people - True. People with some common sense
Professional people
Convenience of everything - VERY TRUE!
Something is always happening there - Too much sometimes and you have to pick which things you love to miss out on.
Nice houses, most look different, not cookie cutter Moreso within the city limits of Dallas than the burbs.
Honest businesses - Still have some cruddy ones but one should be able to find several honest businesses for every need.
Jobs, YES I said more jobs if you're a good employee, many industries
Downtown Skyline
Many sports teams -
DFW Airport -
Good city planning - Like all governments it has its bad moments but overall they do well.
Alot of Dog walkers - That pick up after their pooches
Diversity, progressive people - It really is a melting pot.
Beautiful American women
Luxury cars everywhere - In every area of the metroplex as well. Not just in one area like in so many other large cities. You see more luxury cars in the Dallas area than any others on a daily basis.
Texas Country Reporter - Always loved that show.
Top notch newscasts - SO TRUE!!! Watching the news in other markets and even those larger than ours is a pain and almost unbearable. I think we have literally been spoiled by our professional newscasts.
Many different utility companies to choose, cable, electric
Straight-forward people, they seem more certain - Nothing to hide. We are who we are and make no bones about it.

Dislikes: Poor road conditions
Gloomy days in winter - At least we have plenty of sunny warm days in the winter to make up for it.
Crazy weather - You don't like our bipolar weather
Brown dead grass and trees half the year - Depends on the types of trees and grass one uses. At least we can have winter grass if we chose.
Not much rain - Not lately. Some of the area lakes are now actually OVER capacity. Almost too much rain.
Business politics - Everywhere.
Many drunk driving incidents - Everywhere.
Random shootings - Not as bad as some areas of the country. Watching those out of town newscasts can be rather scary with their crimes.

Ouch. I deserved that, though. Slight skim over the details on my part.
