Garland a good place to live: Depends on what part you live in.
How far to drive to Plano: Depends on where in Garland, and where in Plano. Both are large suburbs. Some parts aren't far apart, and some are. If you work in Plano east of 75, it's not too bad. If you work in northwest Plano, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Not sure because I don't live in that area. I don't think you could do it in 15 minutes in rush hour traffic; probably more like 20-25 depending on your route. My commute is against traffic and is only 9-10 miles (I think downtown Garland and downtown Plano are further apart, 12, maybe 15 miles) and it takes me 20-22 minutes.

Depends on which way you go. Not really a "straight shot" but some routes are better than others. Depends on time of day as well and if you get stopped by the train. I really isn't that far at all and pretty easy. Might be about 10 miles. We are in Firewheel and our business in close to downtown Garland and it takes about 10 minutes to go the 7 miles one way. About another 5 minutes and I can be getting off of 190 onto 75.

Are you looking at something in Downtown Garland? Rent? Buy? If your looking to rent an apartment and want something a bit closer you can always look at the apartments that are closer to 190. There are some on N. Garland Ave called Stoneleigh at Spring Creek and then over at Firewheel Town Center there are the Parkside at Firewheel apartments and townhomes. They are building some new condos in downtown Garland by the DART rail station.

From what you posted it sounds like your working in Plano and wanting to live in Garland? I suggest you live as close to work as possible. If your going to work in Plano why not live in Plano also.
