So I need to hire a cleaning or maid service for once weekly cleaning. Anyone recommend a company or a individual?

Of course they have to be either bonded or very trustworthy if they are private.

Perfer someone in the Garland/Rowlett area.

Merry Maids is a national company that I've used in the past. Check to see if they are in your area. They are very reliable and good.

I have used "Merry Maids" a couple of times on some homes and they are verrrry expensive. I had to get them to come back each time to clean up where they missed.

I got some better service from individuals that were not bonded, referred by word of mouth.

Please let us know who you ended up using and what you thought, I'm always on the lookout for cleaning services.

Thanks, that is why I ran this thread! I have heard Merry Maids is not good....and they charge a lot of $$. So I was wanting word of mouth about trustworthy people or small local businesses.

I have an individual that was referred to me and I've been using them now for over 5 years. Trustworthy. I gave them a housekey (we set the alarm when we are not home but not when they are coming on THAT day so I'm not worried ). They clean EVERYTHING. I only have them come every other week. Works out perfectly.

I had her phone number sitting right here I'll find it and send it to you.

We use a company that sends out 2 ladies everyday to clean our house (with kids and our busy lifestyle, there's always something to clean up). They clean EVERYTHING and are very reliable. I will have to ask if they serve the Garland and Rowlett area. If so, I will send you there number and information.

I agree with the others about Merry Maids. I can do a better job myself. It isn't really the employees' faults either; they are dictated to about how to do the job and instructed to use the same bucket of water all over the house, gross! A friend of mine had a job with them in college and she said never to use them because they do a bad job, they are overpriced, and they treat their employees very badly.
