Help, Looking at a relocation with job Downtown. We are told I 30 will be the best commute and to look around Lake Ray Hubbard. Schools very important. We like a more small town feel than huge residential developments. What areas would be good to look in?

You may be able to find the "small town feel" in a number of areas east of Dallas including those mentioned above. Or in Forney, which is on Hwy. 80 (splits from I-30 about 10 miles east of downtown). But expect to find about 90%+ of the homes listed for sale and apartments available to be in or near "huge residential developments".

Rockwall, great SMALL town with great schools. Nice community with lots of shopping and activities, on the lake, easy access to I-30. A great place to raise a family! Check it out.

Which subdivisions in Rockwall are the most sought after? Looking in 250K to 300K range.

The Shores is one of the oldest neighborhoods that is still being built in and highly sought after with homes in most price ranges. GREAT development and area and VERY involved community. The Shores Country Club is great for family and kids activities as well. Enroll the kids in one of the golf/tennis/swim camps this summer to get to know others in the area over at The Shores.

I second The Shores in Rockwall. I know many people who live in there and they LOVE IT!! Very safe, close to Dallas, very family-oriented, right on Lake Ray Hubbard (which is VERY nice), good schools, etc.

That was my thought, too. If your price range is over $200k, this will be your BEST bet!
