I have a lifetime membership at 24-Hour fitness. I can only go there at night because I hate waiting around for meatheads to get off the damn machines.

I only do legs there. I have dumbells and a bench at my place, but not a lot of room.

I want to do compound exercises [dead lifts, squats, presses] and don't have the equipment for it nor someone to spot me.

I am thinking of getting a personal trainer to save time [I don't want to wait around for a machine to open up] and to kick my ass. I wish I liked lifting weights as much as cardio!

So, let's hear your experiences, costs, and recommendations [or not] for personal trainers in the area.

I am a member at 24 Hour Fitness and managed to lose over 100 pounds without using a personal trainer so I am a little biased; I do not think most people need them. If you want to use one I advise you to quiz them and do not be afraid to ask questions about their qualifications and knowledge. There are lots of websites that give advice about choosing a trainer.

You could also consider taking one of their instructor-led classes. I do a weight lifting class that is designed mostly to waste calories and tone and sculpt, it is mostly women, but there are a couple of men in it. It is FANTASTIC, I love it!
