Hi! I'm planning to move to the area and can't decide between two apartments. One is located near Arlington and another in Dallas, both about the same distance from where I work. I know how bad traffic can get from the apartment from Arlington can get, but I don't know how bad the one from Dallas is. If I get the apartment in Dallas, I'll be taking I-35E southbound until Illinois Ave exit. How bad is traffic on I-35E southbound in the morning between 6 and 8?

It just depends on where your apartment would be in Dallas. If it is north of downtown Dallas, then you would be going with traffic flow, but once you get south of downtown, then you would be going the opposite direction of traffic. Also at 6am, traffic is pretty light. Right around 7am is when you get into a full rush hour(roads start getting backed up). At 8am is when traffic is usually at its worse. In certain cases, especially with I-35E, if there is a wreck anytime between 6am and 8am, traffic gets backed up. I-35E is a major freeway in and out of downtown Dallas for commuters, so it gets a clogged with a ton of commuters everyday, which means traffic gets pretty bad on it. But your commute would still be doable from anywhere in Dallas itself.
