Hi All,

My company is offering relocation packages to Richardson, TX. I currently live in Camarillo, CA which is actually closer to Santa Barbara than LA. I really want to make the move because even though I own a home, I'm living paycheck to paycheck just to pay the mortgage.

I was hoping to get suggestions on a nice suburb to raise a family (I have a 10 year old and another one on its way). We're looking for good public schools, low crime, within an upper middle class community (don't want to spend more than $300k). I would like a bigger size lot (maybe 1/4 acre)....since the lot sizes in CA are non-existent. But then again, I don't want to live in a house where I would have to do a lot of fixing up. Also, work would be in Richardson so I don't want to have a bad commute (tired of the crazy CA traffic).

Lastly, any suggestions for a quality real estate agent that can help me find the perfect place?

Thanks in advance for your help!

We live in Mckinney and love it. You can get a good quality home on a quarter of an acre here for your range. When we house hunted, we found the lots in Plano to be no existant as well as Frisco.

Allen too is a good choice but I am partial to Mckinney.

The above suburbs are close to Richardson and north, with Mckinney being the most far north.

Joey,

You will be able to find just about anything you want w/ a nice lot and be close to work in Richardson. I posted some info on another thread, look under the thread "help me pick a suburb".

I personally would avoid Plano & Frisco. The growth is HORRIBLE!!! And if you are wanting to get away from the crazy traffic those are not the places to go. Allen is starting to get just as bad.

Richardson does have some very nice neighborhoods. Check the SpringPark area along w/ homes in Canyon Creek. Some of these areas have lots of greenbelts, open spaces, creeks, ponds, parks, large trees, etc. There is an area off of Campbell called Prarie Creek that has a BEAUTIFUL waterfall (it may be dry right now w/ the lack of rain, ) but it is a nice area and convienent to just about everything. By staying in Richardson or any area around Richardson you are close to so much that you will not have to get on a highway just to go somewhere.

Oh, and when the houses in these areas of Richardson go up for sale, they don't last long at all.

Hello, My husband has relatives that live in Camarillo. We call it Heaven b/c it is absolutely beautiful. They live by the Country Club really close to a Church. Good Luck with your move. Sorry I can't help with telling you anything good about Richardson. I live north of Dallas in Flower Mound. It is a nice suburb about 7 miles north of DFW airport; however, the drive to Richardson would be horrible.
