My new house is under construction currently and I plan to close it in Feb 2010, so can I still claim 2010 tax abatement for DCURD next year?

When I was looking at the Tax Abatement form on Dallascad.org, it said I have to own the house on Jan 1 of that year in order to claim the abatement.

Default Dcurd

I believe you can apply for DCURD tax abatement once you close. Then, you will need to re-apply every year. This is different to Homestead exemption. For this you need to live in your home on January 1, so I guess you will take advantage of the Homestead tax break in 2011. You only apply for Homestead exemption once.
