Just wondering..do the trees down there lose their leaves in the fall as they do in New England? I've been reading the posts and it seems there is somewhat of a sense of seasons. Getting rid of the extra winter coats and hats I won't need and I know is I won't miss the 1-2 feet of snow and shoveling next year (just need to make it through this winter that has already started early).

Many trees lose leaves, it's started here already. Don't let anyone persuade you to get rid of all your coats and hats; it snows only 2-3 times, but there will be lots of days with max. ~30 and moderate winds.

Yes, our leaves change colors and fall. Some years they all drop in a couple of days if we have a hard freeze. Most of the time it takes a few weeks.

Hold on to your winter duds. There will be times that you will be glad to have them. Keep them if you have the room. I still have the coats, etc, I bought in Chicago. They are very warm and there have been times that I needed them here.

We have many long coats, snow parkas and other cold winter coats for the variety of temps down to below zero wind chills. I know I won't need 3 long coats down there - better to donate what I don't need but will at least have a couple since I'm always cold. I was curious on the trees since it so depressing when the trees are bare. Guess I can't get it all

a few of the trees in Dallas have just started to change color this past week. The typical fall here is mid to late november to mid december. Around Christmas to mid/late february is how long our winter lasts. The last week or so of Feb the temps will start warming up. Now keep in mind in those months you can have several days in the 70s and 80s. Keep winter clothes for the cold snaps that sweep through the area for a few days here and there starting in late December/early January. It will snow once maybe twice if its a bad winter, but it won't stay cold. Not everything turns brown here. There is a very large amount of live oak trees and other evergreen plants in the area. The skies are typically blue most of the time as well especially compared to the north.
