The middle of July was about average but the last few days have been scorchers.

How did July of last year have 37 days of >=100F? That's pretty impressive (and impossible).

Total number of days for the entire year thus far (with this particular chart indicating the time period is through July 31) in which the temperature hit 100 degrees or higher.

I know how you feel. This is my least favorite time of the year when it comes to weather. The normal high temperature peaks at 97 degrees from July 25 through August 17, so we are right in the middle of it. Of course, 97 sounds 'cool' compared to the 105/106 degree days and warm nights we're currently dealing with.

Interesting note about the summer of 2010. While July 2010 had higher than average rainfall and below normal temperatures, August 2010 was the opposite. The high temperature topped 100 for the first 17 days of the month. The streak ended on August 18 when the high was only 96. That was followed by five more 100+ degree days.

Thanks for catching that before I did.

Only the temperature and rainfall stats in my posts are based on month-to-date figures. The number of 100 degree days and consecutive 100 degree days are seasonal (or year-to-date) figures.

I'll do a better job of pointing that out in my next update to clear up any possible confusion.

You didn't read his post properly. The 100+ figures are from start of June.
