To a 40 year old a 22 year old is young.

Yes, you're right. I like the way you said it too (on a positive note) "to a 40 year old, a 22 year old is YOUNG" rather than "to a 22 year old, a 40 year old is OLD.

You are lucky; I can't live wherever I wish but if I could, it wouldn't be here in Texas. I wouldn't go back to southern CA either as it's changed too much over the years, Manhattan...no way and Asheville...hmmm. Now that sounds the most inviting of any of your places, but I checked out that area once and it looked gorgeous with the mountains. I'm afraid though NC is getting too populated for my taste.

I prefer to get out of the south though even though at one time, I thought southwest VA was the place for me. I rather go a bit west and a bit north where the air is drier and colder.

To a guy a 22 year old is not too young.

Not really. It's a long story but when I was 26, my 17 year old neighbor had quite a fascination over me and believe it or not, I just found that out from him recently. I thought he was so handsome...actually quite drop-dead gorgeous and mature for 17. So to that 17 year old, he didn't think 26 was old at all.
