That Alaska trip sounds pretty good!
Well the job market here is pretty strong but the cost of living is about the same as NYC. Only difference is shipping costs are rediculous. And some things you will not be able to find here or get shipped. Many things I have wanted to order online the shipping would have been more than the cost of the item. So between the trashiness of Anchorage, the rude people, the high cost of living, the rainy summers, the long, dark and COLD winters plus the cost of shipping or lack of getting what I want up here or online it's time for me to go. Only came here because the A.F sent us, and can't wait until July 2011 to get out of here. Great place to visit but not to live...at least for us.

I saw it and it was beautiful. You must look at the sunrise on my profile picture. It was taken in February from my backyard. I swear, it's the prettiest I've seen and I was lucky to capture it. I'm like you on the sunset and sunrise photographs due to the time lapses. I have several of this particular morning in February, but posted the first one I took of the sequence.

Maybe I will visit first, then decide.
I did not realize the cost of living was so high. Wait until you get to Texas, you'll love the low cost of living here (although property taxes are pretty high.)

No contest at all as far as I'm concerned. I'd much rather be in Dallas than Key West. I was in Houston when it was about 90 F, and it was like drowning in hot water. Of course, I'd rather be in New Mexico when it's 100 F than in Dallas. Humidity is a much bigger problem than temperature for me.

I totally agree! A lower Dew Point is the key for comfort. For the most part the entire eastern half of the US has naturally high dew points with the southeastern part of the US having the highest. Dallas happens to be right on the line between of this higher humidity and much lower humidity. Too bad Dallas doesn't have the lower humidity levels that are regularly seen just a few hundred miles to our west. But I have no complaints.

Where were you Phoenix? It hasn't been 100 in DFW or Dallas in a week. Today's high was 99. I was out and still out by the pool with a good breeze.

In Argyle riding horses all day. They said it was 104 out and it felt like it. We kept spraying ourselves down with water. I sat under huge tree for 30 minutes and it didn't feel much cooler. We all feel wiped out tonight, just got cleaned up and going out soon, hopefully somewhere cool for a few margartias.

I wonder, or perhaps the ladies can help me - does skin age faster in Dallas (compare to the Northeast) due to all these sun and higher UV index? Thanks.

It probably could, but Dallas women tend to take pretty good care of themeselves, including their skin. Sunscreen is your friend.
