I was looking at the current temps map on the wether channel .com and I see that SW arizona is a bit hotter than here but Dallas is pretty much second in the entire country for hot temperatures. I am looking forward to Fall. This heat is terrible.

try the hell-hole in phoenix. its like sticking your head in an oven.

I guess I understand that, but it's cold so infrequently, that can't be much of a problem. I definitely don't work hard and well in the yard when it's hot, and we're hot a lot more than we're cold.

I agree. We've actually had a few breaks from the sun, but the humidity is still awfully high. This next week, triple digits are upon us and I doubt there will be a cloud in the sky. The dew points have been quite high all summer long.

I agree. They have even forcasted 100 degree days and they have not materialized a few times. I don't think the humidity has been that high at all this summer. We have also had many partly cloudy days and a nice breeze most of the time. I know even this last week every single restaurant around me that has an outdoor dining spot........ they have been PACKED after 5:00pm as it has been nice and breezy w/ some clouds and actually very tolerable.

The summer has really not been that bad to me so far but starting today and all next week, gonna be HOT. I just got done mowing the yard. Wow!! Should have did it earlier this morning. But I will not be home tomorrow so I had to get it done. Miserable.

I really don't recall in recent memory where it was going to be mid 100s every day for a week straight.

I'm sorry but people here in Dallas are WAY over the top when they talk about the heat or weather in general. I am from central California and was nearly scared away from moving here. I've lived here for five years and it is not as bad as the natives make it out to be. There are areas in this country where the heat is more intense (Phoenix, Vegas) or the humidity is significantly higher (Houston, deep southern states) than in Dallas.

Today's heat of the day forecast is 101 degrees with 31% humidity which will feel like 105. The heat of the day forecast for tomorrow is 103 degrees with 26% humidity which will feel like 106.
Oh noooo, talk to me when you're in friggin Central Cal and it is 112, bone dry, hasn't rained since March and PG&E shuts off the damn electricity in the rolling brown/black outs!

Miami, FL right now: 90 degrees WITH 62% HUMIDITY feeling like 101.
Ho Chi Minh City, VM: Consistent humidity in the 70% range in the heat of the day.
Point being...humidity in the 60% range or higher...there's your SAUNA for you!

ONE MORE THING: This is only the 3rd day in the entire month of July that a 100+ degree air temp has been officially recorded in Dallas. In June there were two official recordings of 100+.
Last Day of rainfall over .50in was July 8th....not OVER 1 month ago as some people like to mention or exaggerate. In fact, all over the Metroplex it was a wet July 2010. In Dallas the average July precipitation is 2.43in. This July Dallas recorded 3.26in.
This weekend and most likely the first part of August will be the worst. Usually is, so who cares?

There have been many summers and many days more than a week when Dallas has reached 100 or better and that's without factoring in the heat index.

I am not a native Texan, but I don't deny the heat here. We're not talking about places that are hotter ... there are many as you indicated ... so there really isn't a need to compare unless one wants to move to such places and needs a comparison. Central CA ... no thank you.

Amazingly enough, the dew point in Dallas has finally dropped under the 60s at 57, so that's better. It makes it feel more like Las Vegas now with a heat index of 100 in LV and Dallas at 103 ... much better.
