Hello,

The ALDI Denton, TX Division is almost open! March 2010 is when you should see stores opening in the Dallas area.

As for TJ, they have no business relationship with ALDI in the US. TJ is somehow related to ALDI north, but ALDI south operates in the US. ALDI north and ALDI south do not share any business relation in the US.

Fun fact: the Albrecht brothers split into north and south over a dispute regarding selling ciggarettes in the store.

frankly since most of their packaged foods are private "fantasy" brands--I think you would have to eat a lot of items to know how they match up with what you are used to buying now--
might not matter but there are some brands/products where a store brand is an ok substitute or maybe better than some national ones--but not always...

I think they would have been smarter to have started smaller and tested the waters--going to be lot of empty store fronts if people don't buy into doing their way of selling groceries...

I want to see their produce and their fresh meats--that is something that I would go there for--

Good luck with that. I'm in Oklahoma City and we have had Aldi's as long as I've lived here (3 years). Don't know how long they have actually been here. We've never gotten a Trader Joe's and goodness knows people here would love to have one. I've never seen the fasination of Aldis. They are really small, and as a previous poster mentioned, most everything is their own private brands.

Aldi's been around for a long time. I'm pretty sure they know what they are doing.

Aldi is going after the same demographic as Dollar General and Family Dollar.

This is the perfect time for them to roll out in DFW.

Aldi is the exact opposite of whole foods. i shopped there when i lived in nashville and Chicago. 4 lbs bag of oranges 1.39. Everything is a generic version. Its not for everyone but it has a loyal niche.

Sack and Save could not make it in Bedford--and that was basically a lot like Aldi--

I know that people are looking to save money--BUT you have to understand the demographics of your local areas--I would assume that there has been some type of market survey--but frankly in my area I don't know that people are willing to pay for their shopping cart and get the quarter when they return it or ALWAYS shop with their own bags...
I just wonder what their profit margin is--
and does anyone know if the store does unit pricing on the item price info

That sounded just like I thought it would. And this is their highly touted "we're so upscale we're in *Frisco*" In an abandoned Albertsons (or rather less than half of) and right next to third generation donut shops and dry cleaners.
