No offense intended. I have heard good things about Rowlett High School, but I have also heard some of the other GISD schools have some issues. Like a lot of large school districts, it probably depends on which school. My issue with GISD is the forced busing. I knew a couple whose kids had to attend an elementary school 1/2 an hour from their home all for the sake of political correctness. They voted with their feet and moved to the Plano school district in Murphy.

When I lived in Garland, my son attended Heather Glen. My Texas cousins (who whenever someone says-oh, you live in Dallas - and they say-NO! We live in Valley Ranch!) did not approve. But at least it wasn't the wretched Chicago Public School system. My son's teachers' name was Ms. Patrick, and she was lovely! The office staff was great, and he loved his bus driver and riding the bus (it saved mommy gas too!). His grades were excellent and he was happy. I also worked with him at home. I don't think I'll have any major issues with GISD *crosses fingers*. It's just finding a place to live that's driving us BONKERS! We have to stop being so picky.
