The Texas Alps indoor ski resort was announced today by Grapevine officials as part of the new World Villages of Grapevine project near Grapevine Mills mall. What do you guys think about this project?

I just think of all the power it will use to create this totally out of synch with reality resort
do you think the mgmt will be paying the same rate that homeowners in Grapevine or senior citizens will be paying--NO--
so frankly I think it is more of a stupid, elitist idea than most I read about

You could say this about any large themed resort or amusement park. Disneyland/World and Six Flags I'm sure use tremendous amounts of power. Most themed resorts are supposed to be out of synch with reality. That's the attraction.

Dubai is seriously hurting these days, hundreds of unfinished construction projects. Not sure if the indoor ski slope is still open though.

One of these types of places was announced a couple of years ago - also in Grapevine. What happened to that?

I think this is the first announcement of an indoor ski area. The last two announcements were for an outdoor ski park - some sort of rubbery material that got slick when wet down. As with the last announcements, I'll believe it when I see it.

One of the previous announcements:
