An on-site rental will add about 10 minutes to your journey (buy gas along the way and 5 minutes, tops, to return the car in the garage and walk a short distance). An off-site rental will add about 25 minutes (5 minutes to buy gas, 10 minutes wait for the 10 minute bus ride).

If you want to be a cheapie, cancel the hotel, take your time leaving the game, go to IHOP and have a leisurely meal, head for the airport (by then it should be 4 AM) and be the first one to check in.

you are flying SWA I guess--have you checked into the lounge situation at the airport--is there any type of facility that would let you and your son flake out
or consider renting a larger enough car that you could just sleep in it before you turn it in at the rental lot
would certainly give your son a different story to tell than a motel story

too bad you did not fly into DFW--many Arlington hotels do offer shuttles to DFW

PS--I don't think there is any type of decent lounge at Love--

The Sheraton reserves its shuttle passes to games for people who book 2 nights from what the web site says...others might do the same

found this thread on TripAdvisor where someone posts that the Hilton in Arlington will have game day shuttles to stadium
don't know if that is right or not--would definitely call hotel and confirm but that is pretty nice hotel--may not have rooms available because of people coming in for game
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...ton_Texas.html
and someone else posts just a few days ago that Lincoln Square--a shopping center on 157/Collins and I-30 close to the Stadium will offer shuttles for people who have spent money there--there are couple of restaurants and stores in the area that might work for you
http://www.lincolnsquarearlington.com/news.html (broken link)

this is trip advisor post about the george strait concert--first use of Stadium--and speaks to shuttle use
http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic...ton_Texas.html

of course you know this will be BUSY on game day--and right now the bridge over 30 on Collins St is closed for construction--don't know if it will be operating when you come--you should definitely try to find out about any road construction and get some good maps

tripadvisor has good info about almost any local IMO from places I have traveled and sought info about beforehand...search on it for cowboy shuttle and lots of posts come up
and one hotel I would not recommend is the Days Inn--have read some really negative posts about it
