Residents in a North Texas neighborhood are on high alert after police said a coyote attacked a person jogging and a child in what appears to be a string of incidents in the same area.

According to Frisco police, the jogger was attacked Wednesday in the area of Eldorado Parkway and Rogers Road around 6 a.m. and suffered injuries to their neck.

The victim underwent surgery and is in stable condition, police said.

This is one of four incidents involving aggressive coyotes in the same area, which have all occurred between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.

Very unusual for a coyote to even approach a human let alone attack them. Most likely something seriously wrong with a single coyote that is causing these incidents.

This might sound a little out there but I keep wondering if people have been feeding this coyote because this behavior is very unusual. He doesn't seem the least bit afraid of humans. Coyotes are usually skittish.

Could be someone is feeding them and/or with these incidents trying to get close to them. I've encountered plenty of coyotes in my neck of the woods. I've never had one even the slight bit curious and instead all have fled. A week or so ago I surprised one (and it surprised me) coming upon it at a tree line less than 20' from where I was walking. That was the biggest coyote I ever saw, it was HUGE! It took off running in the other direction. I love watching them when they take off or from a distance as they are very interesting.

I have a workmate who jogs in that area. He says he normally sees coyotes in small groups along his route. He says they lope along with him. When he stops and turns toward them, they stop, then follow him a short while when he turns to run again.

He's a big guy, though.

Coywolf?

I really feel like someone should have come up with a better name than that, though...

That's always possible but wolves are almost non-existent in North Texas now. The Red and Grey Wolves used to roam freely until basically eradicated. So sad to see anything that beautiful be eradicated!

It is also possible it was a mix breed coyote with a domestic canine of a large species. My Labs are near 100 Lbs. each and tall but the coyote I saw was easily taller than them. I'm glad they didn't spot it before I got their leashes on or they would have taken off to play with it, or at least tried playing with it.
